SkillShift Alberta policy
Terms of Use
The rules that apply when you create an account or use the SkillShift Alberta marketplace.
Effective and last updated: September 7, 2026 · Version 2026-09-07
1. Acceptance and eligibility
These Terms are a binding agreement between you and AkselTech Global Services Inc., operating as SkillShift Alberta. By creating an account, checking an acceptance box, accessing a member portal, posting a shift, applying for work, purchasing a service, or otherwise using SkillShift Alberta, you agree to these Terms and the policies linked from them.
You must be at least 18 years old, legally able to enter a contract, and legally entitled to perform or engage the work you use the platform to seek or offer. If you act for a business, you confirm that you have authority to bind that business.
2. What SkillShift provides
SkillShift provides technology and related platform services that help workers and employers discover opportunities, exchange limited messages, manage applications, verify submitted information, and administer platform fees. SkillShift is not the employer, payroll provider, supervisor, insurer, workplace-safety authority, or agent of either party unless a separate signed agreement expressly says otherwise.
We do not guarantee any posting, applicant, match, shift, employment relationship, earnings, attendance, work quality, credential, identity, or hiring result. Verification badges show only the checks completed by SkillShift and are not an endorsement or guarantee.
3. Worker access and optional career services
Access to job and shift opportunities, applications, matching, and employer visibility is free for workers. Silver and Gold memberships are optional career-development services only. Buying or declining a membership does not change job access, application limits, ranking, employer visibility, or hiring decisions. SkillShift does not charge a worker a fee to secure employment.
4. Employer responsibilities
The hiring employer is solely responsible for the employment relationship and workplace, including accurate postings, lawful hiring, pay and overtime, statutory deductions, payroll records, worker classification, WCB coverage, occupational health and safety, supervision, accommodation, required permits, and compliance with employment, human-rights, privacy, tax, immigration, and other applicable laws.
5. Accounts and information
You must provide accurate, current information and keep your account secure. One person may not impersonate another, misstate qualifications, share login credentials, upload altered records, or create accounts to evade a restriction. Tell us promptly about unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity performed through your account to the extent permitted by law.
6. Marketplace conduct and communications
Use postings, applications, documents, and messages only for legitimate work-related purposes. You may not harass, discriminate, threaten, spam, scrape, reverse engineer, introduce malicious code, misuse personal information, solicit prohibited payments, or use the platform for unlawful work.
Contact tools may limit what can be sent and when contact details are revealed. You must not use the platform to arrange off-platform transactions for the purpose of avoiding an earned SkillShift fee. This restriction does not prevent workers and employers from communicating as reasonably necessary for a lawful employment relationship after a match.
7. Payments
Paid services are governed by the Payments, Cancellation & Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms. Prices are in Canadian dollars unless stated otherwise, and applicable taxes may be added. Stripe processes payment information; SkillShift does not store full card numbers.
8. Content and records
You keep ownership of information and documents you submit. You give SkillShift a limited licence to host, copy, process, display, and share that content only as needed to operate, secure, improve, and administer the service and as described in the Privacy Policy. You confirm that you have the right to submit the content and that it is accurate and lawful.
9. Suspension and termination
We may investigate, restrict, suspend, or close an account or remove content when reasonably necessary to protect users, comply with law, prevent fraud or fee avoidance, respond to non-payment, or enforce these Terms. You may stop using the service and cancel eligible recurring plans through the Stripe customer portal. Clauses that by their nature should survive termination remain in effect.
10. Disclaimers and liability
The service is provided on an “as available” basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, SkillShift disclaims implied warranties and is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, lost profits, lost opportunities, employment decisions, user conduct, or workplace injury. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability or a right that applicable law does not permit us to exclude.
11. Changes and governing law
We may update these Terms prospectively. We will post the new version and request renewed acceptance when a change is material. The laws of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable there govern these Terms, without limiting mandatory rights that apply where you live.
12. Contact
Questions, notices, or complaints may be sent to support@skillshiftalberta.com. Include your account email and enough detail for us to identify the transaction or issue.
