SkillShift Alberta policy
Privacy Policy
How SkillShift Alberta collects, uses, shares, protects and retains personal information.
Effective and last updated: September 7, 2026 · Version 2026-09-07
1. Information we collect
We collect account and contact information; worker profiles, experience, availability and credentials; employer and company information; postings, applications and status changes; controlled messages; membership and billing status; support requests; verification and moderation records; device, security, and usage data; and information you choose to provide.
Stripe processes payment-card details. SkillShift receives transaction identifiers, customer and subscription status, amounts, and limited billing information, but does not store full payment-card numbers.
2. Why we use information
We use information to create and secure accounts; operate matching, applications, messaging and verification; deliver subscriptions and career services; process and reconcile fees; prevent fraud and misuse; provide support; comply with legal obligations; enforce our agreements; and understand and improve the platform.
3. What other users can see
Workers and employers see only the information needed for the stage of a legitimate marketplace interaction. Employer contact details may be hidden and communications may be limited to controlled in-platform messages. Worker credentials are not public; authorized users may receive limited verification results or time-limited access when required for a legitimate application or review.
4. Service providers and legal disclosures
We may share information with service providers that host, secure, authenticate, email, store, analyze, support, or process payments for the platform, including Supabase, Vercel, Resend, and Stripe. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the platform, during a corporate transaction, or with your consent. Providers may process information outside Alberta or Canada, where it may be subject to local law.
5. Retention and security
We retain information only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described above, legal and accounting obligations, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, and enforcement. We use administrative, technical, and contractual safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, but no online system can guarantee absolute security.
6. Your choices and rights
You may update many profile fields in your account, change availability, cancel subscriptions through Stripe, and request access to or correction of your personal information. You may also ask about deletion, retention, consent withdrawal, or our privacy practices. Some records must be retained for legal, security, billing, or dispute purposes.
7. Cookies and account sessions
We use necessary cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, protect sessions, prevent abuse, and operate the site. Our service providers may use necessary payment, security, and performance technologies under their own policies.
8. Children and changes
SkillShift is not directed to children under 18. We may update this policy prospectively and will post the new version or request renewed acceptance when appropriate.
9. Privacy contact
