SkillShift Alberta policy
Payments, Cancellation & Refund Policy
Clear rules for employer fees, optional worker memberships, renewals, cancellations and refund requests.
Effective and last updated: September 7, 2026 · Version 2026-09-07
1. Prices and payment authorization
All displayed prices are in Canadian dollars unless stated otherwise. Applicable taxes may be added. By starting Checkout, you authorize Stripe and SkillShift to charge the displayed amount and, for a subscription, future renewal amounts until cancellation. The price, billing interval, included services, and any promotion shown at Checkout form part of your purchase.
2. Worker access remains free
Workers do not pay to view, apply for, rank for, or receive job opportunities. Silver and Gold are optional career-development subscriptions. They do not buy access to employment, preferential ranking, employer visibility, or a hiring result.
3. Employer subscriptions
Contractor and Business plans are billed monthly in advance and renew automatically at the price shown at Checkout until cancelled. Plan allowances, excess-match charges, and included features are those displayed when purchased. A cancellation stops future renewals and normally takes effect at the end of the paid billing period; access continues until that date unless the account is suspended for cause.
4. Optional worker memberships
Silver and Gold memberships are billed monthly in advance and renew automatically until cancelled. Cancelling stops future renewal and normally leaves the membership active through the current paid period. Career services are support tools and do not guarantee interviews, employment, earnings, or any particular outcome.
5. Completed-match fees
A pay-as-you-go employer match fee becomes earned and due when the employer confirms that the matched worker completed the applicable shift and the fee is submitted for payment. Because the matching service has then been delivered, that fee is generally final.
6. General no-refund rule
Except for the exceptions below, paid fees are non-refundable once a paid billing period begins, a digital or career service is accessed or delivered, or a completed-match fee is earned. We do not provide prorated refunds for unused time, an account not being used, a change of mind, a hiring decision, a worker or employer ending a relationship, or cancellation after renewal.
This rule does not remove any cancellation, refund, chargeback, or other right that applicable law does not allow you to waive.
7. Refund and correction exceptions
We will review a request involving a duplicate charge, an unauthorized charge, an incorrect amount caused by a clear platform error, a paid service that SkillShift materially failed to provide, or a refund required by applicable law. We may ask for information reasonably needed to investigate. Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method where possible.
8. How to request review
Email support@skillshiftalberta.com promptly with the account email, charge date, amount, Stripe receipt or invoice number, and reason for the request. Reporting an issue promptly helps us preserve relevant records, but does not shorten a mandatory legal deadline.
9. Payment failures, disputes and abuse
We may restrict paid features after a failed or overdue payment. Contact us before filing a payment dispute so we can investigate, unless the charge is unauthorized or you are otherwise entitled to contact your payment provider immediately. Fraudulent disputes, payment evasion, and repeated abuse may result in account suspension, without limiting either party’s legal rights.
10. Changes
Price or policy changes apply prospectively. We will provide notice required by law before changing an active subscription price. The version accepted at Checkout applies to that transaction, together with any non-waivable legal rights.
